  • Visual Arts Teacher

    Burr and Burton Academy seeks a motivated, enthusiastic, collaborative visual arts teacher, beginning August 2026. The full-time position involves teaching studio art, primarily 2D, with a concentration in drawing and painting. There are opportunities to teach using a variety of media, based on the candidate’s talents and interests. Preferred candidates have a strong background in both 2D and 3D art making, experience teaching high school students, a degree in the visual arts and/or design, and the ability to develop and deliver a rich and meaningful, integrated curriculum. Candidates must be comfortable teaching students of all levels/abilities and employing a framework of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

  • Science Teacher

    Burr and Burton Academy seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated full-time science teacher who has the skills and flexibility to teach a range of physical science classes to a diverse set of learners, beginning August 2026. Candidates should be well-versed in inquiry-based pedagogy, Next Generation Science Standards, and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Applicants should also have experience facilitating laboratory work with all levels of high school students, and be dedicated to professional growth and collaborative curricular design. The science department currently employs a physics-first curriculum in which students progress to chemistry and then biology. An ability to teach physical sciences is an asset to the team, as is a background in earth/space science. Teaching assignments will be based on the candidate’s strengths and interests in the context of current staff.

  • School Counselor

    Burr and Burton Academy seeks a full-time school counselor, beginning August 2026. Candidates must be knowledgeable about and have experience guiding high school students in developing academic, career, and personal goals, as well as post-high school plans. Primary responsibilities include advising students, designing programs, collaborating with faculty and staff, supporting families, building relationships with colleges and universities, and overseeing college applications. Ideal candidates have a degree in school counseling or a related field, are collaborative team players, enjoy working with teenagers, and possess strong organizational, technological, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Academic Interventionist and Teacher, Student Success Program

    The Student Success Program at Burr and Burton Academy is designed to support students who experience significant adversity in their lives. Rooted in the principles of Goals, Habits, Growth, the program helps students discover their strengths, develop independence, and chart purposeful paths toward career and life success.

    The goals of the Student Success Program are for students to:
    • Become self-reliant and resilient and have a strong sense of financial and social independence.
    • Effectively navigate relationships and resources, with the goal of ultimately contributing positively to the greater good of the Burr and Burton community and society as a whole.
    • Develop a sense of self-worth and advocacy through the process of setting and realizing personal and professional goals.
    Through the program principles of Goals, Habits, Growth, students: 
    • Set clear, achievable goals and establish a future vision.
    • Build routines and practices that lead to long-term success.
    • Grow academically, socially, and personally.
    BBA seeks a full-time academic interventionist and teacher for the Student Success program, beginning July 2026. As part of BBA’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), the academic interventionist oversees the progress of students facing academic challenges that require specific and targeted interventions. The academic interventionist partners with teachers, students, and staff to develop and implement individualized plans, focusing particularly on supportive accountability and skill development. In addition, the academic interventionist participates in the Summer Success Camp for incoming 9th grade students and plays a leading, collaborative role in teaching classes in the Student Success program. Ideal candidates are professional educators who have experience working with, teaching, and supporting high school students. Candidates must have strong organizational and communication skills, a caring disposition, and an ability to employ trauma-informed pedagogy and Universal Design for Learning.

The ideal candidate views coaching as an opportunity to help young people develop into healthy adults.

  • Board Certified Behavioral Analyst

    Burr and Burton Academy seeks a part-time Board Certified Behavioral Analyst to enhance the capacity of teachers and support staff to address the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students within the classroom setting. This role is key in promoting inclusive practices, reducing behavioral referrals, and increasing student engagement and time spent in class. 

    Responsibilities:

    - Model and train staff in proactive, classroom-based strategies to support students’ social-emotional, academic, and behavioral needs
    - Provide coaching and in-house professional development to support inclusive practices and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
    - Collaborate with educators to ensure programming is aligned with students’ academic levels and supports differentiation
    - Support teachers in creating classroom schedules that incorporate strategic breaks to help students build stamina
    - Train staff to collect data for functional behavioral assessments and assist in the development of effective behavioral intervention plans
    - Promote systemic change to reduce out-of-class referrals and increase student success within general education settings

    Qualifications:
    - Current BCBA Certification: The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification is a graduate-level certification in behavior analysis
    - Experience in behavioral coaching, special education, school counseling, or related field
    - Strong knowledge of inclusive education practices, differentiation, and UDL
    - Ability to provide collaborative, strengths-based support to educators
    - Effective communication and training skills

  • Bus and Van Drivers

    Be part of the team that makes education possible. BBA is looking for bus drivers to help facilitate field trips, athletics events, and school travel. Pay is highly competitive, ranging from $23 to $29 per hour. We’re seeking both certified CDL and Type II drivers as well as those willing to be trained; we can help to provide training and licensing.
