  • Week of 6/22 - Bulldog Coed Basketball 1 (Gr. 4-6)

    Join Coach Baker, along with current players and staff from both the boys and girls basketball programs, for an exciting and fun-filled week of basketball. The camp will focus on enjoyment of the game, fundamentals, team dynamics, understanding of the game, and other important aspects of the game. Fundamentals include defensive positioning, shooting form, passing form, boxing out, setting and running screens, and how to be a good teammate. Music will be played, drills and skills will be competitive, and the atmosphere will have an NCAA tournament-style feel, culminating in an end-of-the-week tournament and awards ceremony. All skill levels are more than welcome to join!

    About Coach Baker:
    Coach Baker was born and raised in East Dorset and is a fourth-generation graduate of BBA. He is presently in his fifth year at the helm of the Boys Basketball Program after coaching both boys and girls basketball in Burlington and Saint Albans. He experienced plenty of success as a player at BBA with a baseball State Championship in 2005 and a basketball State Championship in 2006, an All-Marble Valley League team selection in both sports in 2007, and was a Southern Vermont Senior All-Star in basketball in 2007. After College, Coach Baker got right into coaching with a 1-year stint at Dorset Middle School, followed by six years as a basketball & soccer coach at Burlington High School and 2 years as a basketball & volleyball coach at BFA Saint Albans.

    Program Overview

    Join us for an engaging and hands-on Cinematography Camp led by veteran educator and filmmaker Bill Muench. Designed for students entering grades 5–9, this camp introduces the essential building blocks of visual storytelling in a fun, collaborative environment.
    Campers will explore:
    • Designing the look of a film
    • Composition and framing
    • Continuity and scene coverage
    • Creative choices in lighting and sound
    • How a professional movie set works
    Students will gain real, hands-on experience while working as part of a film crew. Many returning counselors will be on hand to support campers and help ensure a positive, creative experience for everyone.
    Closing ceremonies will take place each Friday from 12:00–12:30 PM.

    About the Instructor

    Bill Muench brings 33 years of teaching and coaching experience at Burr and Burton Academy, is an adjunct professor at Castleton College, and is an award-winning documentary filmmaker.
    His work includes documentaries on young cancer survivors, the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy in Sea Bright, NJ, and the award-winning film The Artist & the Astronaut. He is currently in production on his latest documentary, An Arrow Shot Through Time.

    Does your child like to build with LEGO?  Do they think robots are cool?  Do they enjoy taking things apart to see how they work?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, LEGO Techsploration is the camp you've been looking for! 
    As a camper, your child will learn basic computer programming and mechanical engineering with LEGO Mindstorms for NXT.  They'll design and program "autonomous" robots for various challenges and competitions. 
    Kevin Morrison, a Media Arts instructor at Burr and Burton Academy, has been teaching LEGO robotics to children for over 25 years and guarantees a fun and enriching experience for all. 

    Note:
    Campers MUST practice using a computer mouse BEFORE they arrive at camp.  More on this before to the first day of camp.

    Join Coach Stefanak and the rest of the BBA staff and players for a fun-filled week of lacrosse. The focus will be on fun, skills/drills, and small-sided games. The week will be a great time to improve your lacrosse skills and Game IQ. Continue to develop a love for the game of lacrosse while working with the BBA Varsity/JV coaches, players, and alumni. Coach Stefanak just completed his sixth year as the Girls Varsity Head Coach after serving three years as the Assistant Coach and five years as a youth coach with Equinox Lacrosse. Hope to see you out there!
     
    If your daughter is new to the game and does not have her own equipment, please contact Coach Ken Stefanak at kstefanak@burrburton.org, and he can help make equipment arrangements ahead of time. Please, provide your own Mouth Guard.
  • Week of 7/06 - Softball (Gr. 3-8)

    Where: Dana Thompson Memorial Park Varsity Softball Field
    Who: Girls in Grades: 3rd - 8th  and incoming 9th graders.
    What to Bring: Softball Glove, Cleats, Softball Pants and Shorts, Water Bottle, Sunscreen, and Healthy Snacks.

    Look forward to a fun week of skills and drills full of learning and fun! Groups will be separated by age for equal skill-level learning. Campers will learn basic to advanced skills based on skill level. Stations will be used for time management and the opportunity for campers to gain many skills in a short amount of time. Skills will include fielding, throwing, baserunning, swing mechanics, and, most importantly, a greater respect for the game. There will be fun, competitive challenges throughout the entire camp. Campers will also cool off with a day of water games! Burr and Burton Softball hopes to provide a fun, high-energy learning environment where campers obtain new skills to benefit them for future competitive softball.
     
    Coaching Staff: 
    Coach Sheldon attended Burr and Burton and Castleton University, where she was an infielder and pitcher. Coach Friday attended St. Michael's College and was a catcher on their softball team, and Coach Wilson is a recent graduate of Castleton University, where she was a catcher for their softball team. The coaching staff brings a wealth of knowledge to the game and is looking forward to working with all of you.
  • Week of 7/13 - Ultimate Frisbee (Gr. 6-9)

    BBA Ultimate Frisbee Camp (Co-ed)
     
    When: July 13 - 17 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
    Where: BBA Lower Turf Field
    Age Group: Boys and girls in grades 6th-9th 
    What to Bring: 
    • Required: Cleats, athletic wear, water
    • Recommended: Sunscreen, 175 gram disc (preferably Ultrastar)
    Note:  We don’t want equipment to hold people back from participating in this camp, so if you need help finding any of this equipment, please let us know, and we can provide it

    More Details: 
    Ultimate is a fun, fast-paced game that many have played informally or in gym classes. This camp is an opportunity to learn more about the skills and strategy of playing Ultimate competitively from BBA’s Ultimate coach, Tom von Allmen. We’ll practice both sport-specific and transferable skills and tactics, and we’ll discuss how competition, fairness, and fun work together in this sport. Great for first-time players, returners to the sport, or athletes of other sports looking for a way to build skills like quickness, field awareness, spacing, and stamina. Athletes must have cleats; soccer, lacrosse, football, etc., are fine, but no metal baseball cleats.
     
    About Tom von Allmen: 
    BBA Ultimate Coach Tom von Allmen has played competitive ultimate since 2008. His Ultimate career started in 2008 in the Fall of his Freshman year at Dickinson College. He’s played in countless summer leagues and spent three years playing for the Albany, NY club team, with whom he traveled all over the East Coast to tournaments. As a coach, Tom has worked in Vermont since coming to BBA in 2015, and he spent one summer coaching overseas in Israel. His top priority as an Ultimate player and coach is understanding how the self-officiated aspect of the sport can create games that are highly respectful AND highly competitive.
  • Week of 7/13 - Baseball (Gr. 3-8)

    About the Coaches:
    Andy Cassarino was the head JV baseball coach at BBA for several years. He was recruited to pitch at Union College in Schenectady, NY. Along with his coaching experience, Cassarino is a current Social Studies teacher at BBA. Kerri Friday is the current head JV softball coach at BBA. She was a catcher at Saint Michael’s College in Winooski, VT. Friday has coached several youth baseball teams and serves as a member of the Manchester Youth Baseball board. She also teaches Social Studies at BBA.
  • Week of 7/20 - Field Hockey (Gr. 5-10)

    DAILY CAMP
    Get ready for a high-energy, fun-filled week of field hockey! Basic skills, offensive and defensive techniques, strategies, and positional play will be taught with a positive, fun, and challenging approach at a level appropriate for the experience and ability of each camper. Skills will be developed through drills, small games, and scrimmages. An emphasis on the importance of warming-up, stretching, good nutritional habits, and POSITIVE thinking for the athlete will be incorporated throughout the week. Athletes must provide their own equipment (mouthguard, stick, cleats/turf shoes/sneakers, shin guards, water bottle; goalies must have their own equipment or see your coach BEFORE camp if you use school equipment). Water and a snack will be provided each day. The last day of camp will be filled with fun competitions and games - a “FUN DAY” to wrap up camp.

    COACHING STAFF
    Barb Miceli is the head coach of the Burr and Burton Academy Varsity Field Hockey team. Barb played high school field hockey in southern Vermont and four years of Varsity field hockey at Vassar College. She was recognized as an All-American player in her Senior year at Vassar. Barb has been coaching field hockey for over 20 years, from the youth level up through the Varsity level. Since returning to the BBA Field Hockey program in 2013, Barb has coached the team to the state championship game in 2018 and 2020, losing both games in dramatic overtime finishes. The team has also made it to the state semifinals in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2025. Barb coaches to instill in her players confidence, self-worth, and the ability to persevere individually and as a team. These qualities provide the basis for success on the athletic field and beyond.

    Barb will be joined by current and former Burr & Burton players, as well as other coaches from the area.

    Lacrosse Camp will be a fun week of lacrosse focused on skill development, small area games, and scrimmages. Campers will work on basic lacrosse skills, offensive, and defensive techniques. Camp is a great opportunity for youth players to develop lacrosse skills and learn the game by working with BBA Coaches, players, and alumni.     ABOUT COACH EDWARDS:
    Coach Edwards has over 15 years of coaching experience in lacrosse. He’s a certified USA Lacrosse coach and the Coaching Coordinator for Equinox Lacrosse Association. He has been coaching with BBA for the last 4 years, with 2024 being his first year as Head Coach. He looks forward to working with youth players from around the region to grow the game and enjoy a fun week of lacrosse.
  • Week of 8/3 - BBA Soccer (Gr. K-1 & Gr. 2-7)

    When: August 3rd - 7th
    Age Groups: 
          Grades K-1 9:00-11:00 am (Upper Grass Field) 
          Grades 2-7 8:30-12:30 pm (Lower Turf Field)
    What to Bring:
    Cleats/turf shoes, shin guards, water bottle, soccer ball, healthy snack, sunscreen, towel, and bathing suit (Water Day TBD).  All campers will receive a camp t-shirt.

    More Details:
    Enjoy an exciting week of soccer while focusing on the fundamentals of soccer. Available to all children entering grades K-7. Campers will be grouped according to age and/or skill level. Campers will experience basic to advanced soccer fundamentals paired with interactive activities and small-sided games, all focused on enhancing the skills and abilities of the individual camper while instilling the value of being part of a team. Campers will also have the opportunity to cool off with some water activities. We hope to provide a fun, safe learning environment while increasing the campers' confidence, knowledge, and love of the sport.

    About Suzanne Mears:
    Suzanne is the head coach for the girls' varsity soccer program at Burr and Burton Academy. Mears played as a four-year starter and two-year captain for the Saint Michael’s College Women’s Soccer Team. Coach Mears joined the BBA community and soccer program in 2014. Since Coach Mears’ time at BBA, she has led the Varsity team to consecutive undefeated regular seasons, ten D1 Marble Valley League Titles, and a D1 State Championship. In her first season, the Lady Bulldogs finished 14-0 in the regular season (15-1 overall), the first undefeated regular season since 1999 and first ever as a D1 program. During Coach Mears’ second season, she led the Bulldogs to another 14-0 perfect season, marking the program's first back-to-back undefeated regular seasons. The Lady Bulldogs went on to achieve a 17-1 overall season record as they competed in the D1 State Championship game, the first as a D1 program. During this season, the Bulldogs were regionally ranked. For the last few seasons, Mears has continued to lead the Lady Bulldogs to winning seasons and ranking at the top of the State for D1 soccer.  In the 2016 season, Mears was named Marble Valley League Coach of the Year, Vermont Large School Coach of the Year, and Region 1- New England Coach of the Year.  Her passion and knowledge of the game will ensure a week well worth your while!
