Seal of Biliteracy

The Seal of Biliteracy provides a way for students to demonstrate proficiency in multiple languages.
Being proficient in multiple languages is a highly valuable skill. To recognize the importance of speaking multiple languages, the state of Vermont officially recognizes high school students who demonstrate proficiency in more than one language with the official Seal of Biliteracy. This achievement becomes part of a student's official transcript, which can then be put on college and job applications to highlight important language skills.

BBA offers several ways for students to show proficiency across multiple languages. Current students taking World Language or English Development courses will learn how to qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy from their classroom teachers.

Students not enrolled in a World Language or English Development class, who wish to qualify for the Seal, should contact Cheryl Cornwell at ccornwell@burrburton.org by Friday, January 23rd.
